FIRST ICE CREAM FOR DOGS
2010
CLIENT
Boomerang (Warner Media)
AGENCY
COW
Go to any upmarket deli or posh pet shop in the summer and ice cream for dogs is standard fare. It didn't exist in 2010.
The kids TV channel Boomerang wanted a stunt to launch it's Pets Party in Regents Park. So, if you're heading there in the sun with your dog and stopping at an ice cream van, why couldn't we offer the same for canine guests too?
It meant we had to create the first ice cream for dogs (dairy free, obviously) which came in two flavours and served from a Boomerang branded iced cream van. People and their pooches went barking mad for it.
On the eve of the event, the K99 flavours were approvingly sampled live on The One Show by food writer Jay Rayner and former Spice Girl Emma Bunton. Good Morning America covered it! And on the day we had national news TV crews from Germany, USA and Japan dropped by to test the product on some very happy dogs.
(The pre-launch photography was captured in Clapham Common during morning rush hour with two Great Danes - a sight that stopped a load of people in their tracks)
